Harry Maguire In Talks With Manchester United Over New Deal

Harry Maguire’s resurgence in the Manchester United jersey has been nothing short of inspirational. Recently, he has established himself as an integral figure both in the dressing room and on the pitch. Meanwhile, contract discussions and swirling rumors about the 33‑year‑old England international are intensifying across the football community. According to the latest data, Harry Maguire’s current contract with Manchester United will expire on 30 June 2026, and multiple clubs from Serie A are interested in signing the former United captain. Despite the rumors of contract discussions with other teams, the England center back has officially confirmed that Manchester United is in advanced talks with Harry Maguire over fresh terms at Old Trafford until June 2027, reinforcing his presence in the Theater of Dreams in his ninth year.

Sky Sports reported that Harry Maguire had confirmed that talks had taken place with Manchester United over a new contract, adding that his future at Old Trafford would be decided in the coming weeks. The report stated that a one-year extension, with an option for a further year, was under discussion and noted that, having joined the club in 2019 for £80 million, an extended stay would see him spend at least nine years at United.

Currently, the Englishman is earning £190,000 per week, and a significant pay cut will be inevitable in his new contract discussions. According to the latest rumors, negotiations are reportedly in their final stages for a deal that would align with the club’s revised wage structure. A notable pay cut to approximately £100,000 – £120,000 per week can be expected in the renewed contract terms.

Italian giants AC Milan and Juventus have been monitoring the situation and are all set to make a move if the opportunity of a possible free transfer arrives. In England, the Premier League clubs like Tottenham Hotspur, Everton, Sunderland, and West Ham United are all on the verge of putting forward concrete proposals for the 33‑year‑old center back. Ligue 1 side Monaco is another club interested in bringing him for the 2026-2027 season.

“I Think We’ll Reach an Agreement Where it’s Best for the Club and Me.” Says Harry Maguire

Harry Maguire denied all the transfer rumors and officially confirmed that there had been talks between his agents and the representatives of the club over a contract extension. Harry Maguire said that there had been talks and that he believed an agreement would be reached that suited both Manchester United and himself. He added that the nature of that agreement would become clear in the coming weeks and that the situation should be resolved soon, whether he stayed or left.

He stated that he loved the club but emphasized that any decision had to be right for both sides. He explained that he did not want to remain for sentimental reasons, but only if he genuinely wanted to be there and if the club believed he could still play a significant role in driving it forward. He concluded that if that were the case, both parties would sit down and reach an agreement.

Despite some decent performances, Maguire has not been outstanding under Ruben Amorim, but since the appointment of Michael Carrick as the interim manager, he has redefined himself and won back-to-back clean sheets. Maguire said ahead of Friday’s friendly against Uruguay that he did not have much bad to say about Ruben and that he really liked him, believing he had great ideas, though those ideas had not worked at Manchester United. He added that he believed Ruben would go on to have an amazing career and that at his next club, he would probably win many football matches. Maguire made these comments when asked about his former boss, Ruben Amorim.

Harry Maguire said that he felt his form for Manchester United had been at a high level for the past three years whenever he had been available. He added that the last two years had been inconsistent due to injuries, but noted that he was now in a good rhythm. He acknowledged that he had experienced a dip in form for around six to nine months during one season, but stated that since then, he believed he had been playing very well.

Manchester United is currently in third place in the English Premier League table with 55 points from 31 matches, trailing behind eight-time winner Manchester City and table toppers Arsenal.
