Last week, the Pittsburgh Steelers lost their veteran quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Then they lost their game to Seattle, dropping to 0-2 on the season. Roethlisberger’s elbow injury will keep him out for the remainder of the season.
And so life without Big Ben begins in Week 3. The betting lines were built with backup quarterback Mason Rudolph in mind for the foreseeable future. Here’s the rundown of this week’s games and all the spreads, totals, and everything else you’ve come to expect in this week’s installment of PennSportsbooks Pick 6.
Pittsburgh at San Francisco (-6.5): 4:30 p.m. 9/22
This game features two teams who have had opposite starts to the season. The 49ers are undefeated with two road wins, while the Steelers are winless, following losses to New England and Seattle. Rudolph will face a formidable challenge on Sunday with the 49ers playing in their home opener. BetRivers has San Francisco as a 6.5-point favorite and -265 on the moneyline. Pittsburgh is +210 to win outright. The game total is set at 44 points. A number of alternate spreads and totals are available as well.
Detroit at Philadelphia (-6.5): 1 p.m. 9/22
The Eagles look to rebound from a narrow loss last Sunday night in Atlanta. Philadelphia is nearly a touchdown favorite at PlaySugarHouse with a moneyline price of -295. The game total is set at 47 points. Bettors can also play individual team totals if they prefer those numbers. The Eagles total is set at 26.5 points, while the Lions number at 19.5.
Temple at Buffalo (+14): 3:30 p.m. 9/21
Temple rewarded those with moneyline bets last week in a home upset win over Maryland. The Owls hope to avoid a letdown against a Buffalo team that played Penn State close at times in their game earlier this season. Temple is a two-touchdown favorite at FanDuel and has a first-half spread of -7. The Owls are -560 on the moneyline this week, while the Bulls are +410. The game’s point total is set at 52.5.
Central Florida at Pittsburgh (+11): 3:30 p.m. 9/21
A week after playing Penn State almost even, the Pitt Panthers face another quality opponent in undefeated Central Florida. Pitt is +310 on the moneyline at BetRivers. Central Florida has a moneyline of -400. The Knights are 3-0 and ranked No. 15 in the country after wins over Florida A &M, Florida Atlantic, and Stanford. The game total is set at 60.5 points.
Notre Dame at Georgia (-14.5): 8 p.m. 9/21
This game may not be the closest one to the Keystone State, but it brings a lot of juice with a very popular public team in Notre Dame and a primetime Saturday night broadcast. Both teams are undefeated, but oddsmakers see the Bulldogs as a two-touchdown favorite at the Parx Sportsbook. Georgia is also a sizable moneyline favorite at -625. The Irish are +450. The game has a point total of 58.
Bengals at Bills (-6): 1 p.m. 9/22
Buffalo is off to a red-hot start this season with a 2-0 record and wins against the other New York teams (Jets, Giants). The Bills are laying just under a touchdown against a Bengals team that was dominated by the San Francisco 49ers last week. Buffalo is -250 on the moneyline at BetRivers, while the Bengals are +200. The game has an over/under of 44 points.
Pick 6 parlay would yield $450
If you’re feeling lucky, a parlay of the Pick 6 games would pay out nearly $450 on a $10 bet.
And make sure to check your favorite sportsbook frequently for changes in the spreads closer to kickoff.
Good luck and enjoy the games.
