Valley Forge Sportsbook App Review

The new Valley Forge Sportsbook will be the sixth Keystone State entry into the growing U.S. sports gambling market.

This sportsbook will undoubtedly come with an app built from experience and technology

Firstly, it involves Paddy Power Betfair, a European gaming giant. Secondly, it is a partner with FanDuel, one of the biggest names in daily fantasy sports, FanDuel. And lastly, the new owner of Valley Forge is Boyd Gaming.

Sportsbook fact sheet:

Land-based launch date:January 2019
Online launch date:Q1 2019 (estimated)
Software partner:FanDuel
Age requirement:21

New player incentives and bonuses

It’s unclear exactly what Valley Forge and FanDuel will offer in sign-up bonuses. But in New Jersey, they are offering a risk-free first bet of up to $500. So, if you lose your initial bet, you are credited back the full amount up to $500.

It’s not the same as a cash bonus as you’re not eligible to withdraw the credit until you wager it a second time. But, regardless of what happens on your very first bet with FanDuel in New Jersey; your balance does not go down.

Web access

FanDuel’s online operation in New Jersey offers a complete sportsbook experience on its website. Promotions, odds boosts and a complete betting guide for the novice players are all available on the site, which is accessible from any web browser.

When Valley Forge online comes to Pennsylvania, we expect the same setup. There likely won’t be a desktop app to download, but it will offer a complete gaming experience via any web browser.

Mobile application

Considering FanDuel’s experience, and now with the sportsbook in New Jersey, the mobile app in PA will inevitably come with the first-rate user experience.

Available for both Android and iOS, the New Jersey app is most notable for how closely it resembles the web-based sportsbook. The homepage comes with easy-to-use shortcuts that wil take you to the sport of your choice.

Whether it is the NFL, college football, the NBA or baseball. There are also three tabs linked to three different tables of contests, labeled “Popular,” “Live” and “Upcoming.”

As a player in Pennsylvania, you will likely be able to manage your account through the mobile app, from registration, through making deposits and withdrawals, to placing all wagers.

Payback bonuses should be returned to your account within 72 hours and may be subject to tax withholdings depending on the amount.

Valley Forge hasn’t yet to announced a particular new player bonus. But when FanDuel finds something that works, it usually sticks with it. This methodology has worked very well for FanDuel customers in New Jersey.

Signing up for a Valley Forge account

When Valley Forge online goes live later in 2019, registration directly through the app or browser should be a breeze.

All that is likely to be required is your name, date of birth, physical address, email address, phone number and Social Security number. Also, you will probably also be asked to create a username and password and answer two security questions to secure your account further.

New player will unlikely to be asked to submit a photo ID, which many online sportsbooks and casinos have previously required. However, the information that you share will need to be correct and current so that the sportsbook can confirm your ID.

Eligibility to register for a Valley Forge account

Everyone within the state lines of Pennsylvania who is at least 21 years old will be eligible to open an account and place wagers.

Note that even if you aren’t in Pennsylvania, you can open an account, but all financial transactions and wagering will be disabled until geolocation technology or an IP address can verify that you are physically within Pennsylvania.

As per the rules laid out by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, all athletes, managers, coaches, referees and other officials that can influence the outcomes of sporting events can open an account and place bets. Although, it is illegal for them to bet on events in which they are involved.

Loyalty program

Valley Forge Casino features what it calls the Valley Club.

It is a points-based program that awards a free $25 slot play upon registering for the Valley Club card. Perks of the Valley Club include:

  • Promotions on food and drink
  • Special birthday offers
  • Airline mileage bonuses
  • Access to discounted rooms and room upgrades at the casino and hotel

FanDuel automatically enrolls its customers into the Players Club, also a points-based program. It features bonus wagers and a yearly account rollover as long as the player bets once in the preceding 12 months.

Because the PGCB insists that the Valley Forge name be the predominant business name of the new sportsbook, we expect the new loyalty program to lean toward the Valley Club’s perks. As for what the benefits will look like when it is available to customers online, that’s still uncertain.

Other available promotions

Valley Forge customers are likely to receive what is called NBA Overtime Heartbreak Insurance, which pays back up to $25 on wagers that lose in overtime. For NFL wagers, players can expect Halftime Insurance, which pays back up to $25 on bets that were winning at halftime but ultimately lost.

Parlay insurance should also be available for both football and basketball for parlays of four or more legs. If all of a player’s parlay legs hit but one, the sportsbook should pay $25  back to the player.

Deposits and withdrawals

When making depositsonline bill pay will likely be the easiest and most direct way to transfer the funds.

All that it requires is an online banking ID and password. This allows you to move the funds without giving out a bank account number.

You should also be able to use credit cards. FanDuel warns customers that credit card companies may attach additional fees. This is because some credit card companies treat deposits to gaming companies like a cash advance. Also, you will likely be able to use direct bank transfers, e-checks, PayPal, or cash through one the many PayNearMe locations in Pennsylvania.

To withdraw funds, players will likely need to reverse the process for PayPal, credit card payments or bank deposits. If you use another means of deposit, then Valley Forge will probably send a check in the mail. This will require additional days for processing.

Available wagers

Straight bets, props, teasers, parlays, round robins and futures will likely be on offer. Including, detailed explanations on how each of these bets works to help out the novice player. Also, FanDuel will likely tell the new player everything they need to know about point spreads and moneylines.

As a player, you should be able to go straight to filling out an online betting slip. You can wager on sports ranging from Australian rules football, through darts and MMA, to football and basketball.

In-play wagering, or bets that take place after an event has begun, are also set to be offered by Valley Forge and FanDuel.

This highly popular means of wagering gives players the opportunity to play multiple games within a single game through multiple halftime totals and second-chance multipliers. There should also be ways for you to pay your way out of bets and make new bets, all within the same game.
