The Sixers and Embiid delivered and evened the series.

In Embiid The Sixers and Bettors Trust: Can the 76ers and Their Big Man Continue to Be Money in Game 3?

The Sixers answered.

After a disappointing home loss in Game 1, the Philadelphia Sixers evened their series with the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday night with a 118-112 victory in front of a raucous home crowd.

Now, the 76ers travel to Atlanta for Game 3, which will tip off at 7:35 p.m. Friday on ESPN.

Even in defeat Wednesday, the Hawks held a third-quarter lead, so the series seems destined to be a close one.

The Sixers delivered for bettors during Game 2

The Sixers staved off falling behind 0-2 in the series which would have sent the city of Philadelphia into full-blown panic mode. It was a good night for Sixers bettors, too. Prior to the start of Game 2, FanDuel Sportsbook PA reported 77% of the money was on the 76ers to cover to 6-point spread and 85% of the dollars were on the Sixers ML (-250). Also, Joel Embiid was the most bet-on player prop. The Sixers’ big man gave backers little sweat, delivering on his points prop (OVER 30.5) and rebounds prop (OVER 9.5) by the end of the third quarter. Embiid finished with 40 points and 13 rebounds in Game 2.

Philadelphia favored to take a 2-1 series lead

Pennsylvania sportsbooks opened with the Sixers as a 2.5-point favorite for Game 3 with a moneyline price of -130. Atlanta was +110. The game’s total is set at 224.5. But, there has been line movement. As of Wednesday night, the Sixers dipped to a 1.5-point favorite and are -116 on the moneyline.

A number of other wagers are also available at PA sports betting apps, including alternate spreads/totals, same game parlays, and quarter/half betting.

Embiid should continue to be a major factor in the remainder of the series. He finished second in the NBA’s MVP voting which was announced Tuesday. His performance so far in Round 2 is even more impressive considering Embiid is playing through a slight cartilage tear in his right knee.

“I’m focused on the playoffs, I’m focused on winning the championship,” Embiid said in an Associated Press article posted on ESPN. “Like I’ve been saying all season, we got a good chance. So I’m not worried about those awards and stuff. If and when I’m holding that [Larry O’Brien] Trophy, anything else won’t matter.”

Early money on Sixers to cover in Game 3

Betting splits from DraftKings Sportsbook PA show that the early money favors the Sixers as slight road favorites.

  • 55% of the money is on the Sixers (-1.5)
  • 89% of the money is on the OVER (224.5)
  • 54% of the money is on Hawks ML (+102)

FOX Bet, DraftKings are offering NBA promotions for new users

FOX Bet also has a promotion for new users in conjunction with the Sixers/Hawks series. New users who create a FOX Bet account and wager at least $1 on Philadelphia to score 76+ points will earn a single free bet worth 100 times the initial amount (max $100) if the over hits.

And at DraftKings, new users can get $100 in DK Dollars if they place a $1 bet on an NBA moneyline and their wager wins.

The Sixers remain the favorites to win the series

Series betting is also available on the remainder of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. The Sixers are still favored to win the series at FanDuel Sportsbook with odds of -230. The Hawks are +190. There is also pricing on the correct series score for not only Hawks-Sixers, but the other playoff series as well.

The lowest odds are on Philadelphia winning the series 4-3 (+250), which suggests oddsmakers expect a pretty even series the rest of the way.

“This is just it. It’s the stage,” Hawks guard Trae Young said in an article on “It’s the best basketball in the world. You’re in the playoffs in the NBA…”

As Young noted, it’s the playoffs. Nothing will come easy.

The Sixers answered the bell in Game 2.

Can they do it again?

We’ll soon find out.
