The Rivers Casino has launched a new sportsbook at its location on the Ohio River in Pittsburgh. It’s only down the way from Heinz Field and PNC Park, the heart of the Pittsburgh professional sports scene.
A complimentary online Rivers Sportsbook, powered by Kambi, is also on the way. In fact, it is due to go live in the spring of 2019.
Sportsbook fact sheet:
|Land-based launch date:||December 2018|
|Online launch date:||Q1 2019 (estimated)|
New player incentives and bonuses
Partnering with Rivers to operate the new sportsbook is European-based Kambi.
We don’t know what incentives it will offer players through the Rivers Sportsbook. Although what Kambi has done in New Jersey gives us an idea of what Pennsylvanians can expect.
In New Jersey, Kambi matches the very first bet you make, up to $200. The only requirement is that you make that bet within 30 days of registering your new account.
Kambi puts time limits on many of its promotions. Although, it’s always rotating new incentives into the mix regularly. Therefore, it consistently gives customers a valuable bonus upon signing up for a new account.
What makes Rivers and Kambi such an attractive longterm pairing is the viability that Kambi brings through its experience in the online gaming world.
Furthermore, it’s because of Kambi’s experience in Europe, as well as the web connection it created for DraftKings in New Jersey, that the expectations for what Rivers will offer in PA are sky high.
Easy-to-navigate menus and a plethora of betting options will likely be the norm and not the exception. Everything wagerable in person at the casino should be available to anyone using an updated web browser that’s connected to the internet through a verified Pennsylvania IP address.
A Rivers Sportsbook mobile app is also coming to both the iOS and Android app stores.
From the home page, there should be quick links to take you through all of the sports that are in season and actively being wagered.
Also, you shouldn’t need to hunt for bonus offers and bet boosters as they will likely be on an easy-to-read banner across the top of the screen.
Most importantly, the app will certainly have geolocation technology services. It will ensure that if you are within the borders of Pennsylvania, you can place a bet. There should also be a signal on the homepage that shows your location and allows you the means of easy troubleshooting if the location is inaccurate.
Equally important, you should also be able to completely manage your account with the mobile app, from account registration and adding funds to placing all bets.
Signing up for a Rivers’ account
With Kambi’s vast experience around the world in making systems that are user-friendly, registering for a new Rivers Sportsbook account should be a snap.
On the current DraftKings’ website and mobile app that Kambi created, all that is required is the name, date of birth, physical address, phone number, email address and the last four digits of the player’s Social Security number.
New sign-ups will likely also be asked choose a username and password and have the opportunity to enable “strong authentication.” The added layer of security sends a unique pin to the account holder’s mobile phone at each log-in attempt.
Eligibility to register for a Rivers’ account
Everyone in Pennsylvania who is at least 21 years old will be eligible to open an account and place wagers with Rivers. A player will only need to be inside the state, either as a visitor or resident.
As per the rules laid out by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, all athletes, managers, coaches, referees and other officials that can influence the outcomes of sporting events are allowed to open an account and place bets, but it is illegal for them to bet on events in which they are involved.
Loyalty program at the Rivers Sportsbook
Owned by Rush Street Interactive, Rivers Casino offers its players free membership into the iRush Rewards program and its 11 tiers of benefits.
At the casino, players can accrue points with each wagered dollar. Players can reach the first tier with as few as 40 points. Even at the lowest tier, members are eligible to redeem points for bonus wagers at the iRush bonus store. At the highest tiers, players can claim free dinners, price multipliers, birthday gifts and custom deposit assistance.
The iRush rewards program isn’t currently set up to be used at the brick-and-mortar Rivers Sportsbook in Pittsburgh, but we expect that when the sportsbook goes live online, this will have changed.
Other available promotions
In a competitive world like sports wagering, keeping customers engaged and finding new ways to place bets is the name of the game. We expect a series of incentives and promotions from Kambi, which will surely happen with this in mind.
Current promotions from Kambi in New Jersey include a $50 bonus to account holders for referring a friend. There are also sportsbook pools, which allow a player to put their abilities to the test against a pool of other players, netting prizes as high as $100,000 for an original $20 bet.
Other promotions are expected to be team- and sports-specific and take advantage of what is happening currently, like in March, when many college basketball-themed promotions are sure to be on offer.
Deposits and withdrawals at the Rivers Sportsbook
Based on what Kambi has done in the past and what Pennsylvania currently has to offer, depositing into a new sports betting online account should be simple and provide multiple options.
Along with credit and debit cards, players should be able to use:
- Direct online bank transfer
- PayNearMe, at hundreds of locations in the Keystone State.
If a deposit method, like PayPal or bank transfer, is also used for withdrawals, then the transaction will likely be instantaneous.
If a player uses a deposit method that doesn’t make for an easy electronic withdrawal, electronic checks will likely be arranged through the player’s account. Traditional checks will certainly result in processing delays.
Players with a Rivers Sportsbook account can look forward to placing wagers on money lines, point spreads, over/unders, parlays, propositions, teasers and a wide variety of futures bets.
In terms of the sports on which players can expect to wager, options include:
In-play wagering — bets that take place after an event has started — is a favorite of players around the world. It has also become a standard for all new sportsbooks, including everything that Kambi does. In-game wagering will undoubtedly be one of Rivers Sportsbooks more popular features.
