What Is Cameo?
Cameo is a video-sharing website that allows users to pay for personalized videos from celebrities, athletes and media personalities. The platform launched in 2017 and recruited more than 30,000 celebs by May 2020. According to the website’s current statistics, it boasts 8,149 athletes.
How to use cameo
Cameo celebs offer one-on-one live calls, direct messaging and promotional videos for businesses at varying price points, but the most popular feature is the personalized video. For example, you could drop $1,000 to hear from Philadelphia 76ers exec Daryl Morey or pay $60 for Phillies legend Larry Bowa to wish your parents a happy anniversary. Some high-profile celebrities choose to donate the money they make on Cameo to charity.
Thanks to new NCAA policy that allows college athletes to profit off their name, image, and likeness (NIL), Cameo is gaining traction with young players as a way to make money. 490 NCAA athletes are currently available for video services on the website.
