Pick Play: Steelers, Eagles Battling For Playoff Berths

It’s the last week you can count on.

After this, everything is uncertain. Some of your favorite teams may be finished. Your rooting interests may be diminished.

So, you might be more inclined to watch a little closer this week and perhaps lay an extra bet down.

Football season is almost over. Your team’s end may arrive on Sunday. In this week’s installment of Penn Sportsbooks’ Pick Play, we’ll cover the Steelers and Eagles, who are fighting for the playoffs, along with all the corresponding odds at our region’s sportsbooks.

We’ll start with Pittsburgh, which will need a little help to keep playing past this weekend.

Steelers at Ravens (+2.5): 12/29; 4:25 p.m.

The good news for Pittsburgh is the Ravens have virtually nothing to play for in this game. Baltimore has already secured the AFC North division and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.

In fact, Ravens coach John Harbaugh announced earlier this week that he would rest starting quarterback Lamar Jackson and some other key starters (Mark Ingram, Marshall Yanda, Earl Thomas, and Brandon Williams) in Sunday’s game. Pittsburgh’s easiest path to the playoffs is to win the game this week and then have the Titans lose to the Texans.

According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Steelers are -128 on the moneyline. The Ravens are +112. The game has a total of 38.5. FanDuel also has individual team totals posted for the game. Pittsburgh’s number is 20, while Baltimore’s is 18.

At press time, BetRivers has the Steelers as a slightly-smaller favorite (-2) and the over/under is slightly lower as well (37.5). BetRivers also has a number of alternate spreads and totals for those seeking different numbers. Numerous quarter, half, and prop bets are posted for this game as well.

Eagles at Giants (+4): 12/29; 4:25 p.m

Win and they’re in. It’s really that simple for Philadelphia, which partially explains why the Eagles are four-point favorites in Sunday’s NFC East matchup. (Philadelphia could also make the playoffs with a Cowboys loss).  Parx Sportsbook has the Eagles at -225 on the moneyline. The Giants are +180. The game’s over/under is set at 45 points. Parx also has a wide variety of alternate lines and totals also posted for the game. There are also bets posted on the game’s total touchdowns and field goals for those seeking additional action. Live betting should also be available on a number of Sunday’s game once the action kicks off.

Rounding out this weekend’s sports betting highlights are a variety of interesting college football promotions. For Saturday’s Penn State/Memphis matchup in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl, FanDuel Sportsbook is offering a bonus that will pay $5 for each touchdown your team scores (up to a max of $25) for those who place a $25+ bet against the spread.

A few hours later, DraftKings Sportsbook is offering an odds boost of +155 for Oklahoma to score first in the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl. In the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl, DraftKings is boosting the odds to +335 if Ohio State wins and the game total goes over 63.5. FanDuel is offering a full refund (up to $50) for those who wager on the Clemson/Ohio State pre-live moneyline if your team loses by less than six points.

It’s a healthy collection of promotions to close out the college bowl season. The NFL season is nearly finished too.

But nothing is over just yet, especially for those with a couple of wagers hanging in the balance.

Good luck and enjoy the games.
