FanDuel has exchanged vows and is headed for what appears to be another successful marriage. Or perhaps partnership is the more appropriate term.
Last Thursday, FanDuel Group and The Cordish Companies, which host more than 55 million visitors a year at their resort, casino and entertainment properties, announced a partnership that will bring FanDuel’s fantasy and sports betting platforms to the Cordish locations, including an upcoming Pennsylvania casino.
Partnership will soon be visible in Pennsylvania
The Keystone State will see some of the first returns of the FanDuel/Cordish partnership.
According to Legal Sports Report, Live! Philadelphia, a $700 million casino already under construction in South Philadelphia’s Stadium District, will feature FanDuel-branded betting and Cordish operations. The property is a short walk from Philadelphia’s stadium complex (home to the Eagles, 76ers, Phillies, and Flyers), which will bring substantial foot traffic to the location.
“We are excited to partner with FanDuel to bring our customers the premier sports betting experience in the country,” Principal of The Cordish Companies Joseph Weinberg said in the press release.
Weinberg also noted that the new partners intend to create some unique promotions and opportunities only available at Live! Properties.
Another Live! collaboration will arrive in western PA
According to TribLive.com, Live! Casino Pittsburgh, one of the state’s first-approved mini-casinos, will feature a FanDuel-branded sportsbook and Cordish Companies operations. That property is scheduled to open next year at Westmoreland Mall in Greensburg.
“With ten decades of experience, The Cordish Companies have created the model for world-class integrated sports, gaming, entertainment, and hospitality destinations,” CEO of the FanDuel Group Matt King said in the news release. “This partnership allows us to capitalize on the incredible success of sports betting to date. (We’ll now) bring FanDuel’s top sports betting operations to Cordish destinations across the United States.”
FanDuel’s momentum continues with Cordish partnership
FanDuel and DraftKings continue to be among the industry leaders in sports gaming. However, here in Pennsylvania, FanDuel has gained some significant advantages over its closest competitor. FanDuel arrived ahead of DraftKings in Pennsylvania, in regard to both a retail sportsbook at the Valley Forge Casino Resort) and its sports betting app, which launched in July.
Now, with the Cordish partnership, FanDuel continues to press ahead. As mentioned earlier, the Cordish Companies host more than 55 million visitors a year. The Live! Philadelphia location is certain to be popular among that region’s sports fans. And furthermore, FanDuel and Cordish are planning to pursue sports betting licenses and online gaming opportunities in Maryland, Washington D.C., and other locations across the country as sports betting expands.
It all adds up to another successful marriage for FanDuel.
And there may be even more of them in the years ahead.
