Pick Six: Penn State Whiteout Comes With Big Odds Boosts

It’s one of the best environments college football has to offer.

A night game at Penn State’s Beaver Stadium. Almost every fan wearing white. And screaming to the high heavens.

Michigan will face that gauntlet on Saturday night in State College, when the Wolverines take on the Nittany Lions at 7:30 p.m. on ABC.

Each week at Penn Sportsbooks, we cover the betting odds of the region’s six best games from the weekend and their corresponding spreads at the state’s sportsbooks. Penn State and Michigan get top billing this week, but there’s plenty more worth wagering on. Here’s this week’s edition of Pick Six.

Michigan at Penn State (-9): 10/19; 7:30 p.m.

The Wolverines look to shake off a sluggish start to the season with a marquee win at Penn State. The Nittany Lions will boast a healthy home-field advantage in what figures to be a raucous, sold-out stadium Saturday night. Penn State is -340 on the moneyline according to FanDuel Sportsbook. Michigan is +260. The game’s over/under is currently set at 47, with options available to bet on individual teams as well. The Wolverines total is posted at 19, while the Nittany Lions’ number is set at 28. The game will be broadcast nationally on ABC.

FOX Bet is going big for the big primetime game with quite the moneyline odds boost. As mentioned, other sites have Penn State as a heavy favorite. However, right now, FOX Bet is offering Penn State at +100 for a max bet of $25.

Pittsburgh at Syracuse (+3):  10/18, 7 p.m.

The Panthers and Orangemen will meet in an ACC showdown under some rare Friday night lights. According to BetRivers Sportsbook, Pitt is -152 on the moneyline, whereas Syracuse is +125. The game’s total is set at 52.5. There are more than 41 possible wagers posted on the BetRivers site, so players will have plenty of entry points into Friday’s action.

Temple at SMU (-7.5): 10/19, 3:30 p.m.

The Owls will make the long trip to Texas for Saturday’s American Athletic Conference contest. Temple defeated previously-unbeaten Memphis last week and will look to pull off the upset once again this weekend. SMU is currently ranked No. 19 in the country and sits at -265 on the moneyline at PlaySugarHouse site. The Owls are +210. The game’s over/under is set at 59.

West Virginia at Oklahoma (-33): 10/19, 12 p.m.

The Mountaineers are facing a massive point spread and a tough matchup with one of the most explosive teams in the country. The Sooners beat Texas last week in the Red River Rivalry and will look to keep the momentum going this week. The spread is big enough to have the moneyline off the board at BetRivers, but there are more than 20 other betting options to keep you engaged. The game total is listed at 63 points. The Sooners themselves have a total of 47.5, whereas the Mountaineers check in at 14.5. Consider this game an appetizer for some of the bigger ones that will arrive later in the weekend.

Dolphins at Bills (-17):  10/20, 1 p.m.

Buffalo returns from a bye week to take on the winless Dolphins in an AFC East matchup. Although the game isn’t the most attractive contest, BetRivers has 80 possible wagers listed. The Bills are a hefty -1,430 on the moneyline. Miami is +750. The over/under is set at 40.5. There are all kinds of props posted for this game too, including first, last, and total touchdowns, as well as first to a number of different point totals.

Eagles at Cowboys (-3): 8:20 p.m.

Dallas heads into the featured Sunday Night game mired in a three-game losing streak. Parx Sportsbook has them still listed as the favorites though, with a moneyline price of -152. Philadelphia would return +125 with an outright win. The game’s total is set at 49.5. As with most NFL games, Parx has posted a number of alternate lines and point totals to give players plenty of different numbers to wager on. There should also be live betting odds available for this game on a number of sites after kickoff.

If you’re feeling lucky, a winning parlay featuring the Pick 6 games would pay out about $475 on a $10 bet.

Good luck and enjoy the games.
