Good news. Pennsylvania sports betting fans now have a second iOS app to choose from in the Apple App Store.
That’s a big step for Parx Casino. Apple accounts for 47% of cellphone users in the US.
On Aug. 5, Parx debuted its app for iPhone and iPad users on Apple’s site.
Having an Apple app is a big deal with a big market
FanDuel already had an Apple-compliant app for its New Jersey sportsbook, so PA users only needed to download an update.
The new approval means Parx became the first new iPhone and iPad gambling app for PA approved since Apple changed up its rules back in early June. And it is the first real-money gambling app in the US since Borgata Sport launched in May.
New Parx app only works for sportsbook
But the Parx app is only good for its sportsbook, not its online casino. The PlaySugarHouse Casino site remains the only Keystone State casino accessible on iPhones, though it can only be accessed via browser in tandem with the GeoGuard app.
GAN and Kambi power the Parx app. If you have played on Parx before, it should feel familiar. As with other rollouts, some users reported hiccups installing the app and starting up a new account, but that quickly subsided.
Due largely to the online component of sports betting, Pennsylvania had its best month ever in June, hauling in $46.3 million in bets. That was $10 million above the previous best month.
Details about the app
The same deposit and withdrawal options, and also the welcome bonus offered on the web version and Android app are available on the iOS app.
The welcome bonus offers a risk-free bet of up to $250 with a player’s first deposit.
