FanDuel Sportsbook at Valley Forge Casino‘s new online offering went live Monday evening following a tech-delay hiccup, starting three partial days of testing.
There were two big reveals once the PA FanDuel site debuted at pa.sportsbook.fanduel.com :
- iPhone and iPad users can directly download the FanDuel Sportsbook app, a first in the market. The app was already listed in the Apple app store when FanDuel went live in New Jersey, so it was already approved and ready to go for PA users.
- FanDuel’s account wallet for its well-established online wagering site in NJ is shareable in Pennsylvania, another major innovation heading toward the football season in September. A shared wallet means one less hassle for customers and flexibility for FanDuel, which already has a leg up in the online race in Jersey.
Testing for the two subsequent days run from 2 p.m. to midnight on Tuesday and noon to midnight Wednesday.
If all goes well, 24/7 wagering online should follow with the approval of the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB).
FanDuel first to market with app for Apple devices
Having an Apple app is a huge competitive advantage in the fast-growing online sportsbook market in Pennsylvania.
If no other rivals launch an Apple app before football season, there’s an even greater advantage. Although, both SugarHouse and BetRivers do allow bettors to wager on their browser versions with the help of the GeoGuard app.
FanDuel is the dominant online presence in neighboring New Jersey. It also operates a retail sportsbook on the NJ side of the Metro New York market, making it the biggest sportsbook in the Garden State.
The new FanDuel app, written in iOS, is important because Apple had recently cracked down on real-money gaming apps coded in HTML5, effectively assuring that the 47 percent of cell users with Apple phones could not directly access online gambling sites.
Android and iOS users get prompted to download an upgrade to existing FanDuel apps. And from there, the app handles the geolocating – bettors must be in the state where they place a wager
Free bet for FanDuel sign up
FanDuel is offering a $500 risk-free bet when you sign up and deposit before 11:59 ET on Dec. 31, 2019.
Players need to place just a single bet for up to that amount. Your online account is bankrolled if you win. If the wager loses, the site will drop that amount back into your account as bonus money, which does come with its own set of terms and conditions.
NJ FanDuel accounts work in PA
iPhone and iPad users can download FanDuel Sportsbook in the app store. The Android app is available for download directly from the FanDuel website.
The login information required is conventional.
- Phone number
- Last 4 digits of SSN
If you already have an account in NJ, you can log in using those credentials in PA, then FanDuel will verify that you are good to go in Pennsylvania. With an established account already in New Jersey with FanDuel, tapping those New Jersey funds is easy.
Rather than making a second deposit just for Pennsylvania, you are immediately good to go.
That’s good for bettors and better for FanDuel.

Deposit methods are:
- ACH (eCheck)
- FanDuel Prepaid card

FanDuel’s market rivals
Pennsylvania had three additional sportsbooks online before the soft launch of FanDuel, owned by European betting power Betfair.
Sportsbooks online already in PA:
The move to online sports wagering
FanDuel Sportsbook in PA looks like its New Jersey sportsbook site, the dominant site in the Garden State.
Brick-and-mortar locations in the more mature New Jersey sports betting market now account for only 20 percent of all sports bets, illustrating where the money has migrated.
Online sports wagering in Pennsylvania is still little more than a month old but has already changed the Keystone market.
More than 40 percent of sports wagers were placed online last month, the first full month when online sports betting options were available. Plus, July numbers should show the shift accelerating.
