The summer sports calendar is always a little lighter, but help is on the way. The NFL preseason starts in three weeks. The regular season begins on Sept. 5.
FanDuel Sportsbook offering numerous NFL futures
All of Pennsylvania’s sportsbooks have a number of NFL games and futures bets already available for wagering. However, FanDuel Sportsbook at Valley Forge Casino Resort seems to be the leader in NFL futures bets at the moment.
FanDuel has posted futures odds for the NFL’s MVP for more than 80 players, including some notable in-state stars. Patrick Mahomes is the current favorite at +600. Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz is +1,400. Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger is +2,900 and running back James Connor is +10,000.
Quarterbacks are MVP favorites
Following Mahomes, a number of quarterbacks are next in line as betting favorites for the NFL MVP. Those players include:
- Andrew Luck (Colts) +900
- Aaron Rodgers (Packers) +1,000
- Drew Brees (Saints) +1,200
- Tom Brady (Patriots) +1,200
- Baker Mayfield (Browns) +1,500
- Philip Rivers (Chargers) +2,000
- Russell Wilson (Seahawks) +2,000
- Matt Ryan (Falcons) +2,600
Pennsylvania native Aaron Donald, a defensive tackle for the Los Angeles Rams, is the favorite among defensive players. Donald is currently +8,000.
Murray, Haskins among favorites for Rookie of the Year
FanDuel’s sportsbook also has a number of other futures bets available, including offensive/defensive Rookie of the Year.
For Offensive Rookie of the Year, No. 1 overall pick Kyler Murray is the favorite at +230. Josh Jacobs is +600 and Washington Redskins quarterback Dwayne Haskins are +950.
Nick Bosa is the leader for Defensive Rookie of the Year at +550. Devin White (+700) and Josh Allen (+700) follow close behind.
Futures available for touchdowns, yardage as well
Other futures bets are available on season leaders for touchdowns and yardage as well. Wagers can be made on passing, rushing, and receiving yards, and touchdown leaders as well, giving sports bettors a wealth of options heading into the NFL season.
At BetRivers, the over/under Roethlisberger’s regular-season passing yardage is set at 4,300.5. The total for his regular-season passing touchdowns is 27.5.
For his Steelers teammate, Juju Smith-Schuster, the over/under is set at 1,400.5 receiving yards for the regular season. The total for his receiving touchdowns is 10.
In addition, PlaySugarHouse has regular-season totals posted for Wentz and many more. SugarHouse has Wentz’s regular-season passing yardage total set at 3,900.5. The over/under for his passing touchdowns is 28.5.
Other sportsbooks should be increasing their offerings
