March Madness is finally here. That’s right; it’s NCAA Tournament time. For the first time, you can legally bet on all of the madness right here in Pennsylvania.
All legal PA sportsbooks will have odds posted on each game and futures markets where you can put down some cash on the team you think will win it all. Plus, Parx Casino, home of the brand-new sportsbook at Parx Casino, is running its very own March Tournament Bracket Blowout.
There is $2,000 up for grabs
This traditional March Madness bracket contest is open to anyone 21 years of age or older and not on the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) exclusion list. Plus, it’s free to enter, and there is $2,000 in cash prizes up for grabs.
Just head to Parx; it is hosting the contest on its website. To take part, you need to fill out a bracket by picking winners for all 63 tournament games. Plus, make sure you get it done before March 21 at 12:14 p.m. when entry closes.
Whoever puts together the best bracket will win a $1,000 first-place prize. Parx is also giving the runnerup $500 and the third-place finisher $250. Plus, the fourth best bracket gets $150 and fifth $100.
Of course, you’ll need to give Parx an email address to enter, and only two entries are allowed per email.
The first four games scheduled for March 19-20 do not count.
Earn points for March Madness wins
Parx will score the brackets on a points-based system. Here’s how it works:
- 1 point for Round 1 wins
- 2 points for Round 2 wins
- 4 points for Sweet 16 wins
- 8 points for Elite Eight wins
- 16 points for Final Four wins
- 32 points for the championship game wins
That means there is a maximum of 192 points you can score for a perfect bracket.
In the end, Parx says winners will be required to come to the casino to claim a prize physically. So, anyone younger than 21 thinking they can game the system here shouldn’t bother.
Winners must also have a Parx XClub account or create one in order to receive their prize. Of course, a photo ID is required to get that.
Entering the contest online also means agreeing to allow Parx to contact you for future promotions and offers through your email.
Bet on March Madness at Parx
In the meantime, March Madness also presents the perfect opportunity to visit the brand-new sportsbook at Parx Casino. Or, Parx’s other sports betting operations at the South Philadelphia Race & Sportsbook and the Valley Forge Race & Sportsbook.
Parx Casino is still running sports betting operations out of a temporary sportsbook that features:
- 20 HD TVs and two 16-by-9-foot screens, making up to 28 games viewable at once
- Seven live teller betting windows
- 45 self-service sports betting kiosks
- A full-service bar
The casino is offering food and drink specials in tandem with March Madness at Liberty Bell Gastropub & Beer Garden. With betting kiosks throughout Parx, you can sit in the beer garden and still be close enough to find a kiosk and place a bet.
However, a $10 million, 10,000-square-foot permanent sportsbook is currently under construction; Parx says it’ll be open this summer.
